Mr. Alvin McClure, age 70, of Rocky Face, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at a local hospital.
Alvin was born on April 12, 1955, in Gilmer County, Georgia, to the late Arlin and Minnie Weaver McClure. He grew up in the hills and hollers of the North Georgia countryside, where he learned the value of hard work, honesty, and family-principles that guided him throughout his life.
He was a dedicated truck driver and retired from MFG Chemical Company after many years of faithful service. Alvin never shied away from a hard day's work and was known for his dependability, quiet strength, and deep love for his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Alaysha Ford, and his brother, James McClure.
Alvin is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Whitney and Emtuma Ware of Rocky Face, GA; sons, Daniel Tyler McClure of Rocky Face, GA, and Trent McClure of Blue Ridge, GA; grandchildren, J'Dun Hill, Prince Ware, Xoeigh Lee, and River McClure; the mother of his children, Twana McClure Amos of Rocky Face, GA; sisters and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Harold Sanford of Ellijay, GA, and Geneva Todd of Chatsworth, GA; sister-in-law, MaeBelle McClure of Ellijay, GA; and a special friend, Ernest Jones of Rocky Face, GA. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and many cherished friends.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Alvin McClure will be held on Saturday afternoon, May 31, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel, with Reverend Ronald Guffey officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until the service hour.
Arrangements are by Ponders Melrose Chapel, 138 Melrose Drive, Dalton, GA, 30721.
