Alvin Metz, age 78, was called home to be with the Heavenly Father, Saturday, August 9, 2025. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 5, 1947.

Alvin is preceded in death by his parents, Enola Craig Smith, Eddie Metz, Sr., and William Smith, Sr.; son, Alvin F. Metz, Sr.; 4 brothers, Eddie Metz, Jr., Wilbert, Albert Charles, and Elvis Leon Smith; 2 sisters, Margaret Lynn Smith and Pearl Marie Fredricks.

Alvin leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 44 years, Sandra Fulton Metz; 2 children, Luciana Ross (Kevin) and Candace Metz; Grandchildren, Van'Shon and Van'Jae Grayson, Cayla and Mi'kel Metz, Kevin Posey, Alvin Jr., Alonna and Layla Metz; 2 siblings, Susan and William Smith, Jr (Emma); daughter-in-law, Lorraine Metz; 2 sisters-in-law, Marie and Edith Smith; brother-in-law, Harold Fredricks; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, a great great niece, other relatives, and friends.

Relatives, friends of the family, employees of Vinson Guard Service, Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office, Gretchen Williams and Richard Williams, Attorney At Law, Blazer Real Estate of Houston, Texas, Pastor, Officers and Members of First Pilgrims Baptist Church, My Redeemer Missionary Baptist Church, Lighthouse Ministries NOLA, Galilee Baptist Church, Ebenezer Baptist Church, Christian Community Youth Against Drugs Foundation and surrounding churches are all invited to attend his Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, August 23, 2025; 10:00AM, at First Pilgrim Baptist Church, 1228 Arts St, New Orleans, LA 70117. Visitation will be 8:00AM – 9:45AM, with service to follow. Interment Private
