Beverly Wilson

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we announce that our beloved Beverly Cecile Wilson (née Alfred) was called home to glory on August 16, 2025, at the age of 86. Surrounded by family and loved ones, she departed this life with the same grace, strength, and quiet faith that she carried throughout her time on Earth.

Born on March 26, 1939, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Beverly was a proud graduate of St. Mary's Academy and Charity Hospital School of Nursing. She devoted 30 years of her life to service as a labor and delivery nurse at Charity Hospital in New Orleans and enjoyed a full active life including her many years as a founding member of the K.I.T. (Keep In Touch) Social Club with whom she engaged in many vacations and casino trips.

She was the beloved wife of the late John A. Wilson, Jr. Together, they built a life anchored in devotion and family that grew into generations touched by her warmth and steady presence.

Beverly is survived by her children: Velda M. Wilson, Shellene W. Odom (Samuel Odom), Garland Wilson (Reesi Turchi), and Shannon Wilson. She was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren: Brittany N. Odom, Jahmal Fisher, Jordan Wilson, Taylor Odom, Darell Wilson (La'Shai Wilson), Justin Fisher and Jaylin Fisher, and seven cherished great-grandchildren. Her unwavering support and deep affection were constant in the lives of all who knew her.

Beverly is also survived by her three sisters - Helen Thomas, Thelma Mary Cager and Carol Sentmore - and one brother, Carl Robertson. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother, George Alfred, Jr., and her parents: George Alfred, Sr., Ernestine Leneaux, Thelma and Raleigh Boyd. She also leaves behind a host of adored nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

Known for her kind heart, gentle strength, and overwhelming caregiving, Beverly filled every room with comfort and joy. Her presence will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, 11:00am (viewing will precede the service at 10:00am) at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 7300 Crowder Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70127
