Amelia Josephine Laureys, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on January 30, 2023 at the age of 28, surrounded by those she loved. She was born August 5th, 1994. She married her beloved Brandon Michael Laureys on November 16th, 2019. She is survived by her husband, Brandon Laureys, her parents, Amanda (Brian) Rutherford of Granger, Indiana and Pascual Huston of South Bend, Indiana, two brothers, Jordan (Jessica) and Boston Rutherford of Granger, Indiana as well as a sister, Breanna Huston of South Bend, Indiana. She is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Julie Walker of South Bend, maternal great grandmothers, Susan Remmo of South Bend, and Sharon Hill of Mishawaka, Indiana, and her paternal grandparents, Oscar and Cindy Montalvo of South Bend, and Fred and Jan Rutherford of Woodbury, Tennessee. She also leaves behind her mother and father-in-law, Audrey and Rodney Laureys of New Carlisle, Indiana, their parents, Clarence and Grace Graber of Goshen, Indiana, George and Pauline Demeyer of New Carlisle, Indiana and John and Donna Laureys of New Carlisle, Indiana as well as her two brothers-in-law, Justin Laureys of Indianapolis, and Chad Laureys of South Bend. She's further survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins all of whom loved her dearly. She is preceded in death, but reunited in Heaven, by her son.
Amelia graduated from St. Joseph High School and went on to graduate from Bethel University. Amelia's life will be remembered by her deep and unwavering love for her family. She loved spending time with her devoted husband and her extended family. She loved and enjoyed spending summers at Diamond Lake with her parents, siblings and friends. She loved to travel, highlighted by her favorite trip, her honeymoon to Barbados. Siesta Key, Florida also had a special place in her heart. She had a wonderful sense of fashion and enjoyed spending time shopping. She doted on her husband, packing his lunches and sharing her love of food with him. She was a gracious and thoughtful host and loved having her family to her house for game nights. Amelia was a planner. Whether that was planning vacations for friends, dinners or bridal showers for her loved ones, she found great joy in making others feel loved. She reserved a special place in her heart for her two dogs, Jack and Jill.
Amelia will be remembered for her one eyebrow look (if you know, you know) and her sass. She had the wittiest, spunkiest and funniest comments, she was hilarious and kept us all laughing. Amelia was wise beyond her years. She was decisive, level headed and knew just what to say. She was supportive and loving. Her thoughtfulness, generosity and relentless determination in the face of hardship were true gifts that will never be forgotten.
Visitation for Amelia will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023, from 5pm-9pm, and Saturday, February 11th, from 10am-12pm at Bethel University Everest-Rohrer Chapel. Funeral service to follow Saturday's visitation 12:30pm at Bethel University Everest-Rohrer Chapel. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. A celebration of life dinner will be held at 4pm at Burns Rent Alls, 2401 N. Home St., Mishawaka, IN.
