Anne P. Gapczynski, 87, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025 in her home.
Anne was born on June 05, 1938 in South Bend to the late John and Eugenia (Milostan) Gapczynski. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Joan Rozycki; brother, Peter Gapczynski; and a niece, Beth Ann Gapczynski.
Left to cherish their memory of Anne is her brother, Norbert Gapczynski; sister-in-law, Nellie Gapczynski; and niece, Gretchen (Jim) Pfeil; great-nieces & nephew, Madeline, Lillian, and Matthew.
Anne attended St. Hedwig Grade School, South Bend Catholic, and was a graduate of St. Joseph High School. She retired from the Ave Maria Press after 45 years of employment. Anne has been a lifelong parishioner of St. Hedwig Parish, and was a member and officer for the Rosary Society. She volunteered at many parish activities through the years.
Annie had a heart of gold and loved to shower her family with gifts. Her great nieces and nephew fondly recall her bringing grocery bags full of "the good (sugary cereal) stuff" whenever she came to visit when they were kids. She was known for her lamb cakes at Easter as she was a great cook and baker. She also found joy in reading. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Annie will be truly missed by all.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at St. Hedwig Catholic Church, 331 S. Scott St., South Bend, with a one-hour visitation prior to the mass in the church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Patrick-St. Hedwig in honor of Anne P. Gapczynski.
