Amelia E. Troutman

HERNDON - Amelia E. Troutman, age 99, died on March 29, 2023. She was born on March 11, 1924 in Lykens Township, PA the daughter of the late Rufus and Katie (Smeltz) Wiest.
She was the devoted wife of Harry B. Troutman who died in 2002. They were married for 54 years.
Amelia graduated from Academy High School, Erie, PA in 1941. On her 20th birthday, she enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served during WWII. She was a member and elder of David's UCC, Hebe., and a member of the Eastern Star #425, Lykens.
Amelia was an avid gardener. She always planted a large vegetable garden. She had a magic touch with growing flowers, her favorite being hybrid tea roses. Her home had plants blooming throughout spring, summer, and fall. When not gardening she was canning, freezing, cooking, and baking. Her grandchildren appreciated her bottomless cookie jar.
Amelia is survived by 3 children, Ann E. Rebuck (Sterlin), Boalsburg, PA. Karl F. Troutman (Joyce), Rush Springs, OK, and Richard L. Troutman (Jane), Herndon, PA, 11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter Emmy Lou on Oct 18, 1959, five brothers: Elvin, Blair, Paul, Leroy, and Guy, and sisters: Martha Miller and Edna Mattern.
Visitation will held at David's UCC Church Hebe, PA from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Friday, April 7, 2023. The service will be conducted by Pastor Dale Thomas at 2:00 PM. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Zion "Klingers" Church Cemetery, Erdman. A meal will be offered at Zion Church following interment. The service will be live streamed on Youtube at davidsucchebe2626.
