Amos Hooks Sr. Obituary Amos J. Hooks Sr., age 65 of Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Monday (January 6, 2025) at the home of his son, surrounded by family and life-long best friend.
He was born April 1, 1959 in Maine to the late Andrew and Juanita (Wolfe) Hooks. Amos worked many of his years in the oil field. He was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan, enjoyed riding motorcycles, and loved fishing.
In addition to his father and mother, he is preceded in death by a brother, Robert Hooks; a sister, Robin Ann Brown; a daughter, Amy P. Hooks; and a brother-in-law, Greg White.
Amos is survived by his children, Juanita Ranay Redding, Amos Hooks Jr., Andrew Hooks, and Dustin (& SueAnn) Hooks; his brother, Jr. (& Margaret) Hooks; his sister, Nancy White; eight grandchildren, Dannon, Raylea, Easton, Josie, Dwayne, Desirae, Daiquane, and Ayden; two great-grandchildren, Dwayne and Michael; several nieces and nephews; his close friends and wife Mary.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Genesis Hospital, Community Ambulance, Hospice of Guernsey Inc., Noble Township Trustees, and Bryan Chandler of Chandler Funeral Home in Caldwell for his assistance. We sincerely thank you!
Visitation will be held Friday (January 10, 2025) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Stephen M. Hannum officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Black-Epperson Funeral Home.
