Amy Goodwin, 55, of Robinson, IL, passed away on February 20, 2023, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born on November 28, 1967, in Little Rock, AR, the daughter of Dr. Michael & Jane (Pulley) Elliott, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jeffery Wayne Elliott.
She is survived by her sons, Taylor Goodwin (Robinson, IL) and Justin & Kyah Goodwin (Terre Haute, IL); by her sister & brother-in-law, Beth & John Santo (Landrum, SC); by her brothers & sister-in-law, Dr. Michael (II) & Angie Elliott (Robinson, IL) and Matt Elliott (Robinson, IL); as well as several nieces and nephews.
Amy grew up in Robinson and was a graduate of Robinson High School. Following a brief stint at Eastern Illinois University, she came home to work for her father's medical practice. Save for the few years she spent as a stay-at-home mother in Casey, IL, Amy's welcoming, kind face would be a staple at Dr. Elliott's office for the rest of her life. Behind the scenes, she was at the heart of its success. As an office manager, she could do it all: insurance, billing, appointments, tech support, you name it! On top of all of this, and in addition to raising her boys, Amy decided to pursue an education in nursing at Lincoln Trail College. Her time in the nursing program here was the genesis of many deep and cherished friendships she would enjoy for the rest of her life.
In 2018, Amy graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Vincennes University, a testament to not only her God-given intelligence but her resolute spirit as well. Her strength and determination kept her moving forward even as her health began to deteriorate. She refused to allow cancer to rob her of the joys she found in life. Amy delighted in the simple things, like reading books, watching movies, or spending time with her boys, who were each the apple of their mom's eye. She made it a point to treat them to Panama City Beach every summer, making many beautiful memories in the process. We will all recall her warm, fun-loving nature with affection and will continue to glean wisdom and strength from her precious memory.
A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25th, at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. A funeral service will immediately follow and be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, with Pastor J.D. Branson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the "American Cancer Society", with envelopes available at the funeral home.
