Amy Renee Sorrells
June 29,1971 - July 30, 2025
Our beautiful and beloved Amy Renee passed suddenly on July 30th, 2025. We are grateful to God she left this earth peacefully, in her sleep. She is survived by her child, Felix Gaylord of Duluth, GA, her parents, John & Virginia Sorrells also of Duluth, her sisters, Lisa Sessa of Sarasota, FL, Mary Carter of Smyrna, GA, and Krista Lett of Decatur, GA as well as her brothers (in-law) Joe, Al & Daniel, & her adored nieces and nephews, Seaira, Fiona, Alberico, Roman, Everly, Rafaelo, Sadie, & Gabby.
Amy was a gifted healer as a deep tissue massage therapist. She touched hundreds, bringing relief with her God-given gift. Chinese medicine was her passion, her specialty acupressure therapy and cupping. She was a dedicated and loving mother, her most important role. Prayer was of the utmost importance to Amy and we all often prayed together.
Amy was proud to be born in Oklahoma City, but she was a true Californian, spending most of her life there. She resided in the Santa Cruz area for decades prior to recently relocating to Duluth, GA to help take care of her father.
She loved being in nature, especially at the beach, her favorite being Blacks Beach in Santa Cruz. She had a natural green thumb and could revive & restore any plant. She rescued many animals including her most recent fur babies, Lazslo & Joey.
Amy brought organization and design to any environment, instantly knowing how to calm and soothe the soul. She brought others up, supporting them and never making anyone feel small. Intelligent and wise with strong intuition, she looked out for everyone around her. She left bowls of gardenias around the house and insisted on sending fresh flowers home with her sisters. Amy was both hard and soft, strong and gentle, she had great depth. She was incredibly capable and eloquent. She was an artist at heart, a real renaissance woman with multiple talents.
We will miss our sister, mom and daughter more than words could possibly express. Life without her beautiful smile, warm heart, and colorful energy could certainly be dull and gray. But instead, we will honor her memory with a commitment to being kind, patient and loving to those around us.
A memorial service for Amy is scheduled for June 29th, 2026, on what would have been her 55th birthday. The location will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Bay Area Legal Aid, https://baylegal.org, Santa Cruz SPCA, https://spcasc.org/, or Atlanta Legal Aid, https://atlantalegalaid.org/home in memory of Amy Renee Sorrells.
