Met Andy the first time on a cold winter day,
Thanksgiving weekend in Detroit MI.
He and Aurora, wife, and Audrey, daughter,
Were welcoming new nurses in the area;
Helping them get settled in the community.

Such a caring couple to new neighbors.
They both treated everyone as family.
I was a visitor, yet treated also as family.
It´s one that stood, as far back as 1980.
He was an engineer, so was I.

We spoke of engineering topics;
He worked at GM, boasted of their quality.
He promoted the great cars they built.
Offering advise, do the best in what you do.
All the while family as a pillar of success!

He was always welcoming;
Offering help from friendship to mentor.
Evident on how Audrey has been and is.
When he was around, a feeling of siblings;
Like we´ve known each other forever.

Lost contact but often thought of;
Specially when visiting MI, close knit friends
He is one of the kindest of people;
As is the family, one to emulate and model;
It´s a rarity these days.

Through the years of fond memories;
Always thought how he, and they are doing.
Wer´e in PA; they relocated from MI to KY.
Memories of friendship, family, kindness;
Unbounded by distance.

I wish he, the family is next door.
Kinship, closeness, good chats to rekindle.
But despite the distance always thought of,
A yearn and miss of a great person,
But more so a loving husband, a great dad.

A trait to be missed of a great life.
It´s 44 years since we met.
The respect, guidance, smiles;
Love of family, friends treated as siblings.
It is remembered and yearned for.

He may be gone;
His legacy remains.
His love and good deeds stay.
He is as I remember him to be.
Rest in peace; Godspeed to Heaven.
