Update on Andy's funeral is moved from funeral home to his church

Andrew Anthony “Andy” Salas, III, 51, passed away suddenly at CaroMont Regional Medical Center on October 27, 2024 with his loving family by his side. 

 

He was born in San Bernardino, California to the late Andrew Anthony Salas, Jr and Patricia Gutierrez. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Michael Hernandez, and his beloved dog Reece and Zeus.

 

Andy aka “Taco” enjoyed playing Pokémon Go . Most of all he loved his family and was a faithful husband for over 21 years to his beloved wife, Erica. He made many happy memories with his family, especially his kids, who will cherish them forever and he was a loving uncle. He loved spending time at the North Gaston Volunteer Fire Department (he called his great escape). He also enjoyed working and making canes for people in need, fishing, and making model cars. Andy was a Gaston and Lincoln County paramedic and taught CPR. He spent his whole life saving people.

 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Erica Bailey Salas; his children, Samantha Danae Salas, Michael Andrew Salas, Andrew Anthony Salas, IV, Christopher Alexander Salas and Stephen Wesley Laws; 1 grandchild, Aylen Deaver Salas; brother, Mario Hernandez of California and a sister Amanda Hernandez of California; mother-in-law, Vickie Bailey; brother and sisters-in-law, Jennifer Burden (Robbie), Samantha Parker and Steven Bailey; a wonderful niece and many nephews and too many friends to list.

 

Family and friends will gather from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Sunset Forest Baptist Church, 903 Hickory Grove Road, Gastonia, NC 28056. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Jeff Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at High Shoals Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be North Gaston Fire Department Fireman
