Andrew James Gellert, 70, of New Providence, entered into Eternal Life on September 26, 2024, after a long battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his beloved brothers-in-law, Jeff Nash and Mark McCullough, and by his niece Roxanne McCullough.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jane McCullough, his daughters, Christiana Gellert and Anna Rose Riccard née Gellert, her husband Michael Riccard and their children, Brielle, Benedict, and Cyprian. He is also survived by his son, Andrew Gellert, and his wife Genevieve Gellert née Ilg.
Andrew's sister, Nancy Nash, and her daughter, Elizabeth, also survive his death.
Andrew's departure is also mourned by his many brothers-in-law and their families, including: brother-in-law, Jack McCullough and wife Becky, with their children John and Adam; sister-in-law Suzanne McCullough and nephew Brian; brother-in-law Paul McCullough and wife Elena and children, Liam and Niamh McCullough; brother-in-law Stephen McCullough and wife Ellen, along with daughter Emma; brother-in-law Michael McCullough; brother-in-law Christopher McCullough and wife Jean, along with his sons, Robert and Ed, and her children, Christopher, Catherine, and Kara; brother-in-law Daniel McCullough and wife, Pat Heaney; and brother-in-law Thomas McCullough, wife Carmen and their daughters Alexandra and Jacqueline and son Aidan.
Andrew was born in Manhattan on Christmas Day, 1953, to Maria and Lazlo Gellert, immigrants from Hungary, and spent his first 30 years in the city virtually uninterrupted by visits outside the island. After attending Bronx Science, he matriculated at Hunter College and NYU. He worked as an IT professional for decades but his passion was his family.
His happiest moments were the occasion of his marriage, the births and Baptisms of his children and grandchildren, and perhaps best of all, his entrance into the Catholic Church, opening the Gates of Heaven for his Eternal Habitation.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday, October 2nd from 5:00-7:00 PM at Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial, 646 Springfield Ave, Berkeley Heights, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, October 3rd at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Peace Church, 111 South St., New Providence, NJ. Interment will be held privately.
