Andrew Frank Knabe was born one of ten children to Elizabeth and Albert Knabe on January 1, 1952, making him the first baby born in Cooke County that year, and for this he received a cash prize and a savings account.
Andy was a man who lived life to the fullest, enjoying hunting, cherishing his children, and fervently supporting his high school football team. He passed away on Oct 30th, at the age of 71, in peace. The attending Doctor said, "He must have helped a lot of people for a long time. We do not all die equally." Andy helped everyone he could, in any way he could. Countless were the times we pulled over to help a stranded motorist or the lawns he mowed for others at no cost.
Born and raised in Muenster, Andy's love for the thrill of the hunt and the tranquility of nature was ingrained in him from an early age. He found pure joy the great outdoors, a passion that colored his life with endless stories and pictures of his hunts with long time friend JD Gibbs. Together they hunted and fished woods, rivers, and lakes in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Colorado.
His alma mater's football games were more than just a pastime for Andy; they were an intrinsic part of his life. He and his brother almost never missed a game. Their unwavering support for the team was legendary, and their presence at the games were often noticed by fellow fans. Andy was happy at these games, and he was filled with enthusiasm and pride for his high school, even when his kids weren't playing.
Family meant the world to Andy. He leaves behind a legacy of love for his children, Albert Knabe, Audrey Hester, Krystal Schaller, and Martha Musick. He was a loving and dedicated father, instilling in them the values of family, and love. Andy shared a special bond with his siblings- August Knabe, Rosanne Knabe, Gerrie Burr, Henry Knabe, Betty Gibbs, Clara Reynolds, Mary Kennedy, Margie Starke, and Eddie Knabe. Their family ties were woven with love, shared memories, endless laughter, and massive family gatherings for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
A celebration of Andy's life will be held at Pecan Tree in Gainesville, where close friends and family will gather to reminisce, celebrate, and honor the life of a man who brought joy to everyone he encountered.
In honor of Andy's memory, the family requests that any desired donations be made to the Muenster Hornets Booster Club.
