Andrew L. "Drew" Sisson
of Owego
Andrew L. "Drew" Sisson, a cherished son, brother, friend, and the life of any gathering, passed away suddenly on March 1, 2024. Born on September 12, 1989, in Albany, New York, Drew's infectious smile and generous spirit were a gift to all who knew him throughout his 34 years of life.
Drew was the beloved son of Michele and Bert Kline, and Stanley and Tina Sisson, who nurtured his kind-hearted nature. He was a loyal and protective brother to Sean Sisson (Bree Northrop), Bree Sisson (Joshua Pignotti), Travis Sisson (Taylor Vincent) and Joshua Kline, as well as Micah (Rochelle) Kuhar. His maternal grandmother, Judy, and her husband Paul Brandow, held a special place in his heart. Drew's aunts and uncles, Theresa (Rich Regensburger) and Jesse Sutton, Katie (Andy) Hickman, Steven, and Bryan (Tammy) Sisson, along with Frank (Charity) Hempstead, will remember him fondly, as will his many cousins and his countless friends. His faithful companion, Melo the old English bulldog, was a constant source of joy and companionship. Drew was welcomed into heaven by his Maternal great-Mimi Jean Palmer, maternal grandfather Kenneth Sutton and his paternal grandparents: Frank and Helen Hempstead.
A 2008 graduate of Ithaca High School, Drew was remembered as a standout football player whose charm and humor left a lasting impression on his teammates and teachers alike. He furthered his education in Criminal Justice at BOCES during his senior year and briefly attended Hudson Valley Community College.
For the past five years, Drew dedicated his professional life to Tioga Downs Casino as a Table Games Dealer. Renowned for his friendly demeanor and quick wit, he became one of the most requested dealers, always brightening the days of those who had the pleasure of sitting at his table.
Drew's love for life was paralleled by his passion for football, with a particular fondness for the Bengals. Although he was a bit disappointed that the Chiefs played this year, his enthusiasm for the game never wavered. UFC and fighter Jon Jones also captivated his interest, showcasing his appreciation for dedication and skill in sports.
His smile was known to light up a room and warm the hearts of many. Drew's reputation as a big kid and a gentle giant was well-earned, and he never had a bad word to say about anyone. Described by those who knew him best as funny, friendly, and kind, Drew left a legacy of laughter and love.
Drew's story is not just one of a life lived, but of a life shared. His ability to see the good in people and to make them feel valued was a gift that will be sorely missed. His legacy will live on through the cherished memories he created with his loved ones and the countless stories of kindness and laughter that will be told in his honor for years to come.
