Vicky L. Perry, 68, of Waverly, New York, passed away peacefully at home on February 5, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Corning, New York, Vicky lived a life filled with warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends.
Vicky was a proud graduate of the Owego Free Academy class of 1976 and furthered her education at the Elmira Business Institute. She began her career as an Assembly Specialist at IBM, where she demonstrated an impressive work ethic and skill. After retiring from IBM, she took on a role at Tioga Downs when they opened. For eight years, she also served as a Post Master Relief for the Barton and Smithboro Post offices, all while maintaining a sunny disposition that endeared her to those around her.
Her life was marked by a vibrant personality; she was known for her ever-present smile and the hugs she offered to everyone she met. Vicky cherished her time spent in her flower gardens, actively participating in searches for yard sales and auctions. Crafting was also a passion, as she created beautiful dolls, dollhouses, and miniatures. Her love for nature extended to hunting and fishing on the hill, activities that brought her immense joy. A former member of the Barton Community Club, Vicky’s spirit was woven into the fabric of her community, where she looked forward to gatherings with friends and family.
Vicky is survived by her devoted husband Duane Perry, and her children: William Bish IV, Michael Bish, Kira Chilson, Heather Kurtz (Glen Smith), and Robert (Amanda) Stummer. Her grandchildren, Jory, Michael, Ryan, Olivia, Lucas, Jacob, Lillianna, and Duane, were a constant source of joy in her life. Her faithful canine companion, Duke, remained loyally by her side throughout her journey. In addition to her immediate family, she is also survived by her brother Paul (Judy) Alexander and sister Amy Alexander, as well as several aunts and uncles including Virginia Hooker, Diane Omar, Paul Hooker, and Carl Alexander. Vicky leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, and countless cousins, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts. She was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Sandra (Hooker) Alexander, a brother, Lawrence "Larry" Alexander, and an infant sister.
In her final days, Vicky was cared for by the compassionate team at Lourdes Hospice. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to her favorite aide, Heather Wood, and the nursing staff whose loving care during Vicky's journey will forever be cherished. Their dedication and warmth were a source of great comfort to Vicky and her loved ones.
While we mourn the loss of such a wonderful soul, we also celebrate the legacy of love and kindness that Vicky leaves behind. Her life was a testament to the beauty of forging genuine connections and nurturing them with care and affection. Vicky's life story is one of joy, companionship, and an unwavering positive spirit. As the seasons change and the spring air fills with the scent of BBQ, we will gather, as she wished, to share stories, honor her memory, and emulate the warmth that she so freely gave. Vicky's legacy is one of a life well-lived and a love well-given, and she will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
