Andrew J. "Andy" Zeegers

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Andrew "Andy" Zeegers, age 57, of Appleton, on Monday, August 11, 2025. Andy was born in Appleton on October 24, 1967, to the late Joseph and Elaine (Gosz) Zeegers, and lived in the Appleton area all of his life. Andy graduated from Appleton East High School with the class of 1986. On June 19, 1992, he was united in marriage to Shelley Ganzel and together they had two sons, Zac and Jeremy. He worked at AstenJohnson for 27 years and was a proud member of the Teamsters Local 662. Andy was a cherished husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, who was often recognized as the life of the party, always trying to put a smile on someone's face. He enjoyed over 20 years of softball as a respected pitcher, and had a love for all Wisconsin sports teams. His passion for history was often on display as he watched shows like Antiques Roadshow and competed with his family in Jeopardy!. Andy showcased his movie knowledge frequently with an endless library of quotes, callbacks, and recommendations. His enthusiasm to entertain will surely be missed. Andy is survived by Shelley and their two sons, Zac and Jeremy, all of Appleton; 2 sisters: Kathy (Chuck) Spoehr, and Nancy Wimberger, both of Appleton; 2 brothers: Jeff (Erica) Zeegers, of Appleton and Matt (Lu) Zeegers, Kimberly; 4 brothers-in-law: Tom (Laura Lee) Hurley, Kaukauna; Russ Berggren, Leon Schabow, and Jeff (Amy) Ganzel, all of Appleton; mother-in-law Carol Ganzel, Lakewood; 3 sisters-in-law: Sharie (Tim) Geske, Appleton, Julie (Jim) Werth, New London, and Jackie (Jeff) Montour, Fox Crossing. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Elaine, 6 siblings: Bobby Zeegers, Linda Hurley, Jean Berggren, Chris Schabow, Mark Zeegers, and Paula Mueller; brother-in-law Cyril Wimberger; and father-in-law Robert Ganzel. A memorial service will take place at 11:30 am on Saturday, August 16th, at the Brettschneider Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit at the funeral chapel on Saturday from 9:30 am to 11:15 am. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
