ANGELO GUERRERA
"Loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather"
Angelo Guerrera, 97 of Waterbury passed away peacefully August 17, 2022 at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Maria (Albini) Guerrera.
Angelo was born March 1, 1925 in Pontelandolfo, Benevento, Italy, son of the late Giuseppe and Tommasina (Paternostro) Guerrera. Angelo left Italy on April 4, 1949 and moved to Montreal Canada before finally settling in Waterbury June 24, 1953. Prior to his retirement in 1989, Angelo had worked as a tool setter at Anchor Fasteners for over 37 years. He was a longtime member of the Pontelandolfo Community Club, where he was an avid bocce player and competed and won several tournaments for the club. He also ran the pizzelle booth at the annual Feast of Saint Donato for many years. He was formerly the coach for the Special Olympics Bocce Team. He loved spending time is his garden, where he tended to his vegetables, flowers and his fig tree.
He leaves two sons Joseph Guerrera and his wife Miriam of Wolcott, Angelo Guerrera and his wife Maureen of Waterbury, his grandchildren Stephen Guerrera and his wife Lauren, Charles Guerrera, Katelyn Guerrera, two great grandsons Elan and Adam Guerrera and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister Angelina Santopietro.
Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday August 20th at St Pius X. Church / St. Basil the Great Parish, Wolcott at 10:30a.m. Everyone is asked to meet directly at Chuch. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. There are no calling hours. Chase Parkway Memorial/ The Albini Family Funeral Home. 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury.
