It is with great sadness that we announce that Angelo Zanca, 93, passed away on August 13, 2025 in Tampa Florida. He passed away peacefully. He was formally of The Villages in Florida and prior to that lived in Tamarack and Lauder Hill FL, and for many years in Centereach NY where he raised his family. He was a retired employee of the Department of Sanitation in New York City.

He was born and raised in Brooklyn New York and was the son of the late Samuel Zanca and Mary Sessa (Zanca), and brother of the late Antoinette Metzger. He is also

predeceased by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He leaves behind his children, Angela Gates and son-in-law Matt Gates, of Sound Beach NY, Salvatore Zanca, of Wirtz VA, Joseph Zanca and daughter-in-law Lisa Zanca, of

Centereach NY, and Maria Hooning and son-in-law Kenneth Hooning of Land 0' Lakes FL. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Jennifer, Matthew, Michael, Justin, Emily and Kenny, and his great-grandchildren Charlotte, Boden and Matthew, and his nieces and nephews.

He spent many happy years with his intended, the late Marlene Hoose, and leaves behind her family as well, including Robert Hoose, Diane Goddard and their extended family, and Marlene's sister Nina GriUin.

He proudly served his country in Korea, was a hard-working father of four, and was an avid fisherman who loved fishing on Long Island, especially in Montauk. He was also an avid sports fan and Frank Sinatra fan, and he loved all Italian food.

He lived a very full and happy life and will be deeply missed.

Visitation is from 9:30 to 10:30 am on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Thursday at St. Joseph's Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10950. Entombment will follow in the Cemetery.
