Anita Marie Dunn Liggett, 72, of Dennison, Ohio, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio, after an extended illness. Born July 31, 1952 in Coshocton, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Robert Joseph and Catherine Ann "Katie" (Lauvray) Salrin.
Anita grew up in Coshocton where she was a 1970 graduate of Coshocton High School before earning her Bachelor of Science in Education from Kent State University in 1974. She was a dedicated educator who began her long teaching career at Claymont Public Schools' Eastport Elementary before moving on to Immaculate Conception Elementary where she spent the majority of her career which also included several years at Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School. Throughout her time in school and in her professional life, she formed close bonds with her many friends – continuing to maintain friendships with her "YaYas" from high school, as well as meeting regularly with her many close friends. She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison.
She will be remembered for her loving, kind, and thoughtful nature. Most of all, she leaves behind a legacy of deep love for her family and many treasured memories of the time that she spent with them – especially with her grandchildren. She and her family spent many happy times on their trips to Tennessee and beach vacations which she always enjoyed so much.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her daughters, Charles A. "Chuck" Dunn, II, whom she married on June 22, 1974 – enjoying 26 years with him until his passing on August 7, 2000. Her siblings, Thomas and Nancy Salrin, died in infancy.
Anita is survived by her husband, Richard K. "Dick" Liggett, whom she married on April 28, 2007; her daughters, Jennifer C. (Tom) Ewing and Allison M. (Erick) Banaszak; step children, Mathew (Ruthie) Liggett and Stephanie (Jai Joshi) Liggett; grandchildren, Cole, Cade, Katie, Neal, Charlie, Luke, Kate, Casey, Allie, and Cooper; and a large extended family, including many dear cousins.
Father Jeff Coning will celebrate the funeral Mass on Wednesday, April 9, at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery near Dennison. Family and friends are invited to call at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
