Anita Jewell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Janowicz Family Funeral Home - Remus on Dec. 9, 2025.
Anita Mary Jewell passed away on December 6, 2025. She was born on January 15, 1962, in Hornchurch, England, to David Robert Tredgett and Joyce Winifred Tredgett (nee. Dockerill).

Anita dedicated her career initially at Lloyds Bank in London, and then to supporting students as a special education paraprofessional, working within the school system, including Sanders Draper School in England, and Plymouth Canton Schools in Michigan, USA. She earned her bachelor's degree and carried a deep passion for helping others learn and grow.

In 1982, she married the love of her life, John Jewell, whom she met at Sander Draper School in the United Kingdom. As a teenager, Anita proudly played baritone in the Haverettes Girls Marching Band and was part of their British National Championship winning group, also taking part in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in 1996. Her love of music continued throughout her life, later joining the Plymouth Canton Community Choir.

Anita enjoyed golfing, traveling, sunbathing, gardening-where she was known for her green finger-and the camaraderie of the bridge club and playing cards and games with her family. She had an adventurous spirit and an appreciation for all genres of music. She was strong-willed, giving, and unwaveringly dedicated to making sure everyone around her was cared for. Opinionated in the best way, she always let you know where you stood, and her honesty and warmth were pillars for those who loved her.

Life took Anita many places. From 1995–1997 she lived in Plymouth, Michigan. In 1997 the family moved back to the UK, and from 2000–2017 she again resided in Plymouth before settling in Canadian Lakes in 2017.

Anita is survived by her husband, John Jewell; son, Bradley (Rachael) Jewell; daughter, Charlotte (Ben) Nickelson; grandchildren, Preston, Mason, Mia, Sophia, and Henry; her mother, Joyce Tredgett; sister, Elaine (Chris) Coleman; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, David R. Tredgett; her brother, Glen Tredgett; and her beloved dog, Jack.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Remus, Michigan, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, from 10:00–11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the National MS Society.
