Memorial services for Anita Van Vugt, 77, of Mobridge will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge. A memorial visitation will be from 4-7 PM with the family present will be Monday at the funeral home. Anita passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck.
Anita Mae Van Vugt (Kienzle) was born on May 13, 1945, to John and Emma Kienzle in Isabel, SD and passed away on January 18, 2023. When she was young, the family moved to Mobridge, SD where she graduated from Mobridge High School in 1963. She met Gerrit Van Vugt and they were married on December 6, 1964, in Mobridge, SD where they continued to live and raise their six children.
Throughout her life she held multiple jobs and was known for her hard work ethic and her no nonsense attitude. Outside of work she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed drinking coffee, playing cards, baking, sewing, and embroidery. Anita was one of a kind with an infectious laugh and will be remembered for being Gramma Nita to so many.
Anita is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gerrit Van Vugt; daughters, Darla (Shane) Pendergraft; Dana (Mike) Bultsma; Darae Van Vugt; Danette Van Vugt; sons, Derrick Van Vugt; and Dillon (Varinh) Van Vugt; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; siblings, Lila Martel and Tony Kienzle.
In addition to her parents, Anita was preceded in death by her brothers, Ervin, Wilbert, Vern, Jerry, and Raymond; sisters, Lorraine and Delores.
