Ann Frances Ashley-Rice, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, peacefully passed away at home on March 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 71 years old.
Born on June 12, 1953, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Ann was the daughter of Marilyn (Haynes) Ashley and Edward M. Ashley Sr. A proud resident of Forest Park, Ann graduated from Greenhills High School in 1971. She went on to attend the University of Cincinnati, earning a B.S. in Accounting in 1984.
Ann was a passionate and devoted member of her community. She was deeply involved in the activities and education of her children, serving as a scout leader and as a teacher’s helper in the Lakota School District. Once her children were older, Ann rejoined the workforce and played an integral role in the establishment of several start-up companies in the Cincinnati area. Ann retired from JB Steel in 2015.
Ann is survived by her loving husband of 42 years Everett L. Rice Jr.; her children Matthew (Jamie) Rice, Clark J. Rice (Allie), and Sara (Joshua) Berger; and her cherished grandchildren Gunnar, Steelie, and Piper Rice, Kendall and Joshua Berger. She is also survived by her siblings Edward M. Ashley Jr. (Lan), Rebecca Ashley-Pocisk (Gary), and William K. Ashley, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Ann found joy in many activities, especially those that brought her closer to her family. She adored spending time with her grandchildren at the zoo. Going on camping trips with Everett, her sister and brother in-law and best friend Denise. She also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, like spending time at the beach. Ann had a deep love for the outdoors, with hobbies that included bird watching, working in her garden, and stargazing.
Ann’s love and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and she will be remembered for her kindness, her endless care for others, and her unwavering devotion to her family.
Please join the family in celebrating Ann’s life on Friday, March 28th, 2025. A visitation will be held from 11am-1pm at Hodapp Funeral Home, 6410 Cin-Dayton Rd. Liberty Twp., OH 45044 with a memorial service following at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to The Carl and Edyth Lindner Research Hospital at The Christ Hospital.
