Because of God's good grace Ann Brim's long good-bye came to a peaceful end in the early morning of December 17, 2024–just one day before her 85th birthday, at Belmont Village in Suwanee, Georgia. No longer must she endure failing mind and memories, nor a body that was becoming less and less mobile. On Wednesday, December 18, Ann celebrated her birthday with her Lord and savior, in her perfect body.
Born December 18,1939 in Atlanta, she was the daughter of the late James Bell Wilson and Elizabeth Simpson Wilson. She was the oldest of three girls and adored by her younger sisters. Mrs. Brim was a 1958 graduate of Grady High School. From there she went to The University of Georgia, where she graduated with a major in Elementary Education. While teaching in Atlanta she met Jim Brim, who became her husband of thirty-nine years. Each was the love of the other's life. In 1964, they moved from Atlanta, and rumor has it she cried all the way to Pelham.
Ann quickly fell in love with her new small town of Pelham, making friends that she would cherish for a lifetime, starting their family, and tirelessly serving her family, friends, church and community. She was a beloved, devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend. Ann's legacy is one of loving and selfishly serving others. Her love for Jesus and others was reflected in her joyful smile. He was the origination of the love, joy and servant's heart she reflected to all who had the pleasure of being in her circle. She was a gracious hostess, constantly entertaining family and friends in their home. Ann was an active member of Hand Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Pelham Garden Club, an active 'Rotary-ann", and a faithful follower of the Florida State Seminoles. After raising her three children she returned to teaching mathematics at Pelham High School for ten years. During that time Jim's health failed, and she became a loving, full-time caregiver. For thirty-nine years she was a devoted wife and life-long companion. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Croswell Brim, Jr.
After Jim's death in 2002, Ann emerged with time and energy to devote to her community that she loved so much. She served tirelessly as a Master Gardener, in many various capacities at Hand Memorial United Methodist Church (United Methodist Women, Lydia Circle, church office volunteer, and active Sunday School Class member), as a volunteer at the Mitchell County Food Bank, member of the Pelham Garden Club, and Better Hometown Board Member. In 2010 she was awarded the Pelham Better Hometown Volunteer of the Year Award. When she was not volunteering, she was keeping the road hot visiting her three children, their spouses and her six grandsons whom she loved until she relocated back to Atlanta in 2015 to be closer to family. Throughout her life she easily made and valued new friends while continuing to treasure all her longtime relationships. Ann was dearly loved by all her family and friends and will be deeply missed until we meet again.
