Ann H. Digilio, age 90, passed away January 7, 2024, at 2:19 p.m., at her home.
Ann was born January 18, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York to George L. and Helen (Kinahan) Hyland, both parents preceded her in death. On April 7, 1956, she married Roland C. Diglio, who preceded her in death October 25, 1993. Ann is preceded in death by her son George J. Digilio and her sister Dorothy H. Hyland.
Ann was interested in everything and an avid lifelong student. In 1954, Ann earned her BS in Biology and Chemistry from Queens College of the City of New York. After raising her children, Ann went back to school to obtain her AA in Computer Programming 1983, an MBA 1994, and her Ed.S. in Computing Technology and Education 2000.
Ann began her career as a Food Technologist for General Foods Corporation Central Research Labs 1954 -1956. Ann raised her children, volunteered, and worked in a variety of education related jobs before becoming a fulltime professor. Ann retired after teaching at the University of Findlay for 20 yrs.
Ann engaged in many arts, crafts, and interests including painting, jewelry making, shadow boxes, and building and refinishing furniture. She was deeply interested in genealogy and the challenge of building her family history.
Most importantly, Ann was a truly admirable person who demonstrated her principles through her actions. Ann was kind, optimistic, doggedly determined, unflappable and endlessly forgiving. Ann made friends easily and could relate to anyone. She will be missed as a unique and classy lady who was deeply loved.
She is survived by her four children, Roland C. Digilio, Jr., Helen M. Schneider, James A. (Jan Rosser) Digilio, and Dorothy D. Weaver; six grandchildren George J. Schneider, Maria G. Schneider, Eric Carr, Kristen (Brent) Downing, Madison Digilio, and Sophia Weaver; and her three great grandchildren Willow Carr, Brooks and Kohen Downing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. Burial at Gethsemani Cemetery will follow the mass. Father Kent Kaufman will officiate the service.
Visitation will be held at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation services, SHAWNEE CHAPEL, on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Aplastic Anemia and MDS International Foundation , the West Ohio Food Bank (westohiofoodbank.org ), or the University of Findlay Technology Management Scholarship .Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
