Ann Pass Gregory, 78, of Newport News, Virginia, passed away on August 29, 2025. A proud wife, mother, and grandmother, Ann was a whole human being in her own right- one who lived a dynamic and adventurous life.
Ann was born on Christmas Eve 1946, in Montgomery, Alabama, the first child of Virginia Brown and John Warren Pass. She grew up stomping around the family farm outside Winder, Georgia. After graduating from Winder-Barrow High School, she attended Georgia Southern College, where she earned a degree in Sociology. She later earned a master's degree from the University of Louisville.
In 1970, Ann met Ronald Gregory and three months later, they married. The two spent the next fifty-five years together- travelling, adventuring, and raising their two stunningly attractive sons, Chris and Patrick.
Ann was a proud federal employee. She spent her career as a family and career counselor for members of the United States military. After retirement, she volunteered at the library, delivered meals to the elderly, and had regular card games with friends. She also spent as much time as she could with her two grandchildren, Angus and Juno, whom she loved with all her heart.
Ann regularly rooted for any and all Georgia-based sports teams. She was a fan of the underdog, and would cheer for whichever team was trailing in a game- unless, of course, the team was trailing against a team from Georgia. A true southern belle, she loved peaches, grits, and fried okra. She frequently played devil's advocate in a conversation, challenging others to consider all sides of a topic. She valued kindness, tolerance, and empathy. A southpaw, she always recognized and celebrated her fellow lefties.
Ann is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Ronald; two sons, Christopher and Patrick; her two grandchildren, Angus and Juno; her brother and sister-in-law, Doug Pass and Elizabeth Cleland-Pass; her sister-in-law, Karen Gregory and brother-in-law, Erich Schomer; as well as countless family, friends, and co-workers.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Weymouth Funeral Home, followed by a reception. Donations in remembrance may be made to the American Cancer Society as well as Al Otro Lado, www.alotrolado.org/letsdosomething. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.

Yesterday

Ron and family - We are so sad for Ann's passing, but joyful that she is now in her forever home where she is illness free and forever at peace.

My memory of Ann will be her big smile and her bubbly personality. Although she was mom's cousin, she wasn't too very much older than me. She always had a big hug and kiss ready when we met - even if it wasn't very often. She was always full of positive energy an infectious laughter.

We pray for God's perfect comfort and peace for you and your family as you celebrate Ann and her life.
