Ann Kerchbaum Mountjoy, age 73, of Elizabeth City, NC, died at her home on Thursday, March 13, 2025. Born in Washington, DC on May 14, 1951, to the late Matthew and Mary Nuttycombe Kerchbaum, she was the wife of Wayne Douglas Mountjoy for 51 years. A cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and devoted nurse, Ann lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and service to others. She devoted an impressive 50 years of her life to nursing, consistently demonstrating her commitment to caring for those in need. Her career was primarily spent as a Registered Nurse, where she made a significant impact in the lives of countless patients and colleagues. Her passion for helping others extended into her role as a hospice nurse, where she provided comfort and support during some of the most challenging times in her patients' lives.
Beyond her professional life, Ann was an avid reader and found joy in the solace and wisdom that books provided. She was also a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Maryland.
She is survived by her beloved, Wayne; her four sons, Roman Mountjoy, Justin Mountjoy, Aaron Mountjoy, and Brandon Mountjoy; her brother, Matthew Kerchbaum; and nine precious grandchildren who will carry forward her memory. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, and a beloved grandson, Kane Michael Mountjoy.
Ann's family will celebrate her life in private.
