Ann Marie (Simons) Waldstein, age 74, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, died December 30, 2025, at her residence in Sioux Rapids.

Memorial services will take place Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids. Visitation will be held Friday, January 2, 2026 from 4-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Ann Waldstein Memorial Scholarship Fund or the Abben Cancer Center in Spencer by visiting the following link: https://www.spencerhospital.org/about-us/donate/donate-online/. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.

Ann was born December 12, 1951, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, to Vernon "Curly" and Alice (Conway) Simons. She grew up attending Emmetsburg Catholic schools and later graduated from Emmetsburg Public High School in 1970. She attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg, then completed her teaching degree at Iowa State University. Later, she went on to earn a Master's degree from Drake University. She had a positive impact on many lives working as a Special Education teacher and Administrator for over 30 years at West Bend Schools, Sioux Rapids-Rembrandt Schools and Sioux Central Community Schools.

On June 2, 1973, Ann was united in marriage to Brian J. Waldstein at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. They were blessed with three sons, Eric, Jeffrey and Sean.

Ann was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux Rapids until it's closing and then became a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. She enjoyed being involved in the Guild at St. Joseph's, serving as an officer.

Ann and Brian enjoyed time with family and friends at their home on Lost Island Lake. Ann was an avid Iowa State fan and loved attending games and tailgating. You could also find her familiar face in the stands supporting her children and grandchildren's sporting, music and speech events. Ann enjoyed crossword puzzles, daily wordle and playing cards with friends and family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish Ann's memory include her sons: Eric (Hillary) Waldstein of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, and their children Xander, Ryan and Torunn; Sean (Amanda) Waldstein of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, and their children Ryleigh, Peyton and Evan; sister, Kathy (Marvin) Bradfield of Lewis, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Sam Waldstein of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Rick (Ila) Waldstein of Texas; and many more extended family and friends.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Alice Simons; husband, Brian Waldstein; son, Jeffrey Waldstein; parents-in-law, Howard and Jeanette Waldstein; brothers-in-law, Eric Waldstein and Kyle Waldstein; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patricia and Wayne Mills.
