Anna Brougher

Anna Brougher, 78, of Romulus passed away peacefully at Hale Creek Manor on Tuesday,
December 16, 2025. She was born on June 4, 1947 in Aschaffenburg, Germany to Iwan and
Natalia (Szram) Sajew.
She was a graduate of Immaculate Conception Schools in Hamtramck and received her BA in
Education from the University of Detroit, and Masters in Education from Eastern Michigan
University. She married the love of her life, Luther Brougher, on August 9,1969 in Hamtramck,
MI. They spent most of their married life in Romulus and enjoyed almost 51 years together until
his death in 2020. Together they raised their three daughters and were involved in their many
groups and activities. Anna was a Catholic School Teacher for many years, most of them at St.
Aloysius in Romulus. After retiring from teaching, she was a Library Assistant at Taylor Library
and then Allen Park Library for several years. Anna was gifted in cake decorating and those
creations were always the highlight of special occasions. She also enjoyed crocheting items for
her family, reading, playing cards and games with friends and family, and spending as much
time as possible with her growing family.
She leaves behind her beloved family; Children: Natalie (Brent) Hemker, Denise (Michael)
Belinsky, and Kim (Larry) Cada. Grandchildren: Tommy Cada, Michael Belinsky Jr., Nicholas
(Laura) Hemker, Elizabeth Belinsky, Emily Belinsky, Sophie Hemker, Zachary Belinsky, Caroline
Hemker, Olivia Hemker, Emma Hemker, and Avery Cada. Great Grandchildren: Edward Cada,
Isaac Cada, Augustine Hemker, Killian Cada, and Natalia Hemker. Brother-in-law Terry "Tip"
(Diane) Brougher and Sister-in-law Linda Draghi (Ed) McLaughlin). She is also survived by
many nephews, nieces, loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Luther, her parents Iwan and Natalia Sajew, infant
brother Stefan Sajew, and sister Maria Makowski, several brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, and 3
nieces.
A visitation will be held at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 37200 Neville St., Romulus, MI on
Friday, January 2, 2026 at 10 a.m. followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the
Romulus Cemetery. Fr. Wayne Ruchgy will be officiating. The family would like to thank the staff of Hale Creek Manor and
Compassus Hospice West Branch for the wonderful care they gave to Anna. In Lieu of flowers,
the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hale Creek Manor (Hale, MI) or to
Compassus Hospice (West Branch, MI).
