Anna Lee Hawse

Anna Lee Davis Hawse, 85, of Elkton, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at her home. Mrs. Hawse was born October 17, 1939, in Port Republic and was the daughter of the late Hurdle Calvin and Pauline Hensley Davis.

Her husband, John Robert Hawse, Jr. preceded her in death on July 4, 2012. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by son, John R. Hawse, III; and brother, Jerry Davis; sisters-in-law, Tamara Clark and Shirley Hawse; brother-in-law, Jimmy Hawse.

Mrs. Hawse was a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and attended Bear Lithia Baptist Church. She had previously worked at McGinnis Store, Alliance, Genie, Dunham Bush and retired from Merck and Co. She was an avid cat lover. She also enjoyed traveling to Mrytle Beach and out west to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon.

She is survived by sister, Gail Davis; brothers, Larry Davis and wife, Shirley, Welford Davis and wife, Thelma, and Dallis Davis and wife, Brenda; aunt, Orva Taylor; special nephew who was like a brother, Daniel Davis and wife, Vicky; nieces and nephews, Heather Davis, Zach Davis and fiancée, Heather Hensley, Timmy Davis, Wes Davis, Brad Davis, Glenn Davis, Carol Roudabush, Karen Cave, Michael Ray Davis, Vicky Smith, Brenda Stary, Richard Smith Jr., Lisa Davis, Bo Hawse, Chuck Clark, Jay Clark, Tara Davis, and Kristie Clifford, step-niece, Stacy Breeden; sister-in-law, Gloria Smith and husband, Richard; brother-in-law, Charles Clark; great-niece, Sierra Clark, and a special great-great niece, Olivia Faye Davis

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Bear Lethia Baptist Church in Elkton with Pastor Mark Leatherman officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.
