Anna Marie McAleavy (nee Smith).
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anna McAleavy. Anna passed away peacefully on April 18th at her residence in the Franciscan Village in Lemont, IL. Anna was born outside of Philadelphia and resided there until she moved to Chicago with her husband Chuck. Anna lived life every day for all it was worth. Whether it was volunteering as young adult during WW II, working at Rand McNally publishing after the war, singing in her church choir, caring for her children as they grew, being active in organizations such as Girl Scouts, PTA, and Cub Scouts or returning to the work force as her children grew up, Anna put everything into everything and everyone she touched. Anna worked into her seventies as a bookkeeper/accountant at several firms in Chicago while enjoying her free time with family or traveling the world with family and friends.
Upon retirement, Anna relocated to Carillon in Plainfield, IL, where she met and found a new group of amazing friends. Her days were now filled with helping with her grandchildren, actively involved in numerous clubs and activities within Carillon such as golf, bocce, and senior sporting events. Anna was an avid Blackhawks and Cub fan, and as such was fortunate enough to see both teams win championships during her life. Anna always preferred to participate, playing games of all types with her friends and family.
Anna spent the last several years as a resident at the Franciscan Village where she enjoyed the company of her neighbors and the wonderful staff. Anna was known for her constant smile and her enjoyment of life; she will be missed by many.
