Anna Marie O'Rourke was born on January 25, 1952, in Minneapolis, MN. to Duane and Elizabeth Miller. She grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Stillwater High School in 1971. In 1973, Anna gave birth to her daughter, Eloise Goodson.
In 1982, Anna moved to California, where she began working in home healthcare with the Golden Rain Foundation. Her career also included a role as a dialysis technician for several home care providers, where she became known for her dedication, compassion, and professionalism. She spent years providing care to those in need.
In 1997, while back in Minnesota helping care for her brother, Anna met John Berg, the love of her life. Anna and John shared a beautiful partnership for 28 years. Together, they lived in the Bay Area, then Las Vegas, where they owned and operated Heavens Acre, a care facility for the mentally challenged. Their work provided a safe and loving home to many individuals in need of specialized care. In time, they settled in Yucca Valley, CA, where they fostered many children, offering them a loving home and a place to thrive.
Anna had an immense passion for caring for others, especially the elderly. Her heart was full of love for her animals, her cats and dogs, and she found joy in the companionship they brought. A lover of the arts, Anna enjoyed watching movies and attending plays.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Duane and Elizabeth Miller; her brothers, Dewey, Duncan, and Dana Miller, and her sister, Mary Hetler.
Anna is survived by her devoted domestic partner of 28 years, John Berg, her daughter Eloise Theisen (husband David), granddaughters Alexandria and Samantha, sisters Linda Kult, Helen (Paul) Laidig, and Laura Sullivan, goddaughter Ann Marie Burke, and many nieces, nephews, and friends who cherished her caring spirit.
In memory of Anna, donations are appreciated and can be directed to either the family or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, as a reflection of her deep compassion for humanity. Anna's legacy of kindness, love, and selflessness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
