Anna Knelle Stormer, 97, passed away on December 16, 2024 at SpiriTrust Lutheran Home Care and Hospice in Chambersburg, PA.  Born January 20, 1927 in Kansas City, MO, she was the daughter of the late Alexander T. and Anna Knelle Sharp.


Anna Knelle earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Oberlin College in Oberlin, OH, with additional study at American University in Washington, D.C.  During her early career, she was employed at the American Psychological Association in Washington, D.C.  Later, she worked in the business office of a nursing home in Silver Spring, MD.  She retired in 1984. Anna Knelle was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Chambersburg, PA.


She and her late husband, R. Reed Stormer, Jr., were married March 26, 1950 in Kansas City, MO. They had celebrated 63 years of marriage before his passing on September 23, 2013.  For the first 40 years of their marriage, they resided in the Washington D.C. area before relocating to Chambersburg, PA in 1990.  


She is survived by her three daughters; Susan C. Senft (Bruce) of Harrisburg, PA, Cynthia C. Stormer of Pacific Grove, CA, and Beverly G. Tripp (Scott) of Virginia Beach, VA; 6 grandchildren, Christie and Karin Senft, Ashlyn Tripp (Nicholas Rotz) and Holly Tripp, and Wesley and Brandon Earley; one nephew; two great nephews; two great nieces and their families. Aside from her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and one nephew.


A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1811 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg, PA where Rev. Caroline E. Saxton will officiate.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church.  Memorial contributions in her name may be made to either the church at the above address or to SpiriTrust Lutheran, 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., York, PA 17404.
