Anna Elizabeth (Ann) Wanek, 98, of
Corpus Christi, TX, joined our heavenly Father on November 20, 2025. Born on March 11, 1927, to parents Albert and Jennie Farquhar. She grew up in Hempstead with her parents and siblings - sister Lou and twin sister Grace, and brothers John, Alexander and Alan. The family later moved to Navasota where she lived until graduating. After high school, Ann moved to Houston, Texas and began a career in the banking industry with Bank of the Southwest. She was dedicated to, and enjoyed her career, but loved spending precious time with family, friends, and a fun travel adventure.
In 1949 she met the man who would become the love of her life, Raymond J. Wanek. They were married in 1960 and settled in Corpus Christi where she proudly assumed her new role as wife and mother. Her greatest joy came with the addition of her children, son Timothy, and daughter Allison. Ann was a godly mother who served her family with an abundance of unselfish love and grace. With that same loving spirit, Ann nurtured and cared for her grandchildren, of whom she was very proud and were her ultimate joy.
In addition to her time with family, she actively served her church and participated in group bible studies. Ann's passionate love of the Lord made her a faithful "prayer warrior" for those in need. All who knew her benefited from her comforting nature, keen listening skills, and trusted counsel. Her sparkling blue eyes, caring smile, and warm hugs always let you know that you were welcomed and loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-seven years, Raymond J. Wanek, parents Albert and Jennie Farquhar, siblings John Yates (Weldon), Lou O'Neal (David), Grace Vance, Alexander Farest, and Alan Farquhar, and brothers-in-law Richard Wanek (Joyce), and Anton Wanek (Maxine).
Ann will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. She is survived by her son, Dr. Timothy Wanek (Joan), daughter, Allison Tagliabue (Stephen), grandsons Daniel Wanek (Melissa) and Joshua Wanek (Heather), and her great grandchildren Olivia, June, James, Zachary, Vivian and William. Ann is also survived by her sisters-in-law Bertie Farest and Natalie Farquhar, as well as beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family extends their sincerest gratitude to those who helped in providing kind and loving care for Ann in her later years, Pam Hecht (Anthem Home Care), Lauren Garza RN, Melissa Sanchez, Andrea Rios, and Dr. Isaac Guerrero (Gentiva Hospice).
