Anne B. McCooey
Dover – Anne B. McCooey, 78, died peacefully, Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Bellamy Fields in Dover, NH.
Born in Concord, NH, December 28, 1944, she was the daughter of John Edward and Anne Quirk McCooey. She was a graduate of Dover High School, class of 1962, and Keene State College, class of 1966.
Anne was an elementary school teacher, initially in Manchester, NH and then in Duxbury, MA, for thirty-eight years. She was a dedicated educator who consistently worked to develop her skills and knowledge of teaching for the benefit of her students. Following her retirement in 2006, she spent some time working as a substitute teacher for the Portsmouth School Department.
Anne shared a profound bond with her mother. It was a love that was stronger than a diamond and bigger than the sky. Together they were a force to be reckoned with. Anne's resilience and perseverance was a living testimony to her mother.
Anne's family and friends were the most important thing in the world to her. She sustained herself with the love of family and friends. Caring for her loved ones brought her a rewarding sense of achievement.
Anne enjoyed traveling; especially her trip to Ireland, spending times with family and friends to celebrate special occasions. She was a connoisseur of a good donut and enjoyed watching Hallmark movies.
Anne was a communicant at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Portsmouth, NH for many years and prior to that at St. Mary Church, Dover, NH. She was a faith filled person and lived life as God inspired her to live it. She built on her faith every day through prayer, being part of a faith community, and living out gospel values.
Anne was predeceased by brothers John E. McCooey, David R. McCooey, and James M. McCooey. She is survived by her brother Patrick K. McCooey and his wife Harriet of New York City, NY, her sister-in-law Virginia McCooey of Rochester, NH, and her sister- in-law Patricia McCooey of Jamestown, RI. She also leaves behind her nieces and nephews Karen Gravel and her husband Dana of Rochester, NH, Susan DiPrizio and her husband Peter of Rochester, NH, Jeremy McCooey and his wife Sue of Playa Vista, CA, Beth McCooey and her husband Chris of Oceanside, CA, and John and Danielle McCooey, of Dover, NH, and grand nephews Caleb Gravel, Ben Gravel, Anthony DiPrizio and Dylan McCooey and grand nieces Marina DiPrizio, Evie McCooey and Keady McCooey. Anne also had many cousins and devoted, lifelong friends.
Friends and family are invited to call Thursday, November 30, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Avenue, Dover, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, December 1, at 11:00 am at Parish of the Assumption, St Mary Church, Dover, NH. Burial will follow at St Mary Cemetery.
