In Loving Memory of Agatha "Anne" (Doyle) Meyer
August 10, 1931 – May 29, 2025
With hearts full of gratitude, we announce the peaceful passing of Agatha "Anne" (Doyle) Meyer, of Glenview, IL, on May 29, 2025, at the age of 93. Surrounded by her loving family, Anne left this world as she had lived-surrounded by love, faith, and joy.
Born in Milwaukee, WI, on August 10, 1931, Anne was the youngest of five children to Dr. John and Agatha Doyle. Family, faith, friendship, and fun were the cornerstones of her childhood and remained central to her life.
Anne grew up in Wausau, WI, where she developed a love for life. She learned to ski at Rib Mountain, was an enthusiastic cheerleader, and always embraced the joy in every moment. After following in the footsteps of her older sister, she attended Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, where she studied dietetics. It was during this time that she met a young man from Chicago, Chuck Meyer, on a ski train-a meeting that would eventually lead to a lifelong love and marriage.
Anne and Chuck started their family on the south side of Chicago, later relocating to Deerfield, IL, where they lived for 60 years. She is survived by her devoted children: Charles "Buck" Meyer, Zoe Smith (Casey), James "Jim" Meyer, John Meyer (Janet), and Mary Langhenry (Jim). She also leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren: Caleb Smith (Sunny), James, Billy, and Marty Langhenry, Molly and Jenny Meyer, and Chris and Zoe Meyer, and soon to be great grandchild, Baby Avery Smith, as well as many nieces and nephews. Anne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles "Chuck" Meyer.
A woman of deep faith, Anne's life was enriched by her commitment to service. She spent much of her life volunteering, including youth ministry at Holy Cross Church and providing drug prevention education globally with Nancy Reagan's "Just Say No" campaign. Music was another of her great passions-she sang in the church choir, performed with the jug band Patent Pending 13804, and was a founding member and leader of the ukulele group Hummers & Strummers. Her love of life extended to hobbies like tennis, bridge, golf, and both water and snow skiing. Summers and holidays spent at the family cabin in Northern Wisconsin were among her happiest memories.
A devout Catholic, Anne attended daily Mass, prayed the Rosary, and offered blessings to everyone she met. Her life was a testament to her unwavering faith, deep gratitude, and unrelenting joy. Her boundless energy, kindness, and positivity touched everyone she encountered, and she cherished every friendship she made.
One of Anne's greatest joys was being a grandmother. She was deeply involved in her grandchildren's lives, supporting them in their activities-whether sports, crafts, teaching them to play the ukulele, or skiing-and always celebrating their accomplishments.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Kelley & Spalding Funeral Home, 1787 Deerfield Road, Highland Park, IL 60035.
A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH), 1775 Grove Street, Glenview, IL 60025. Livestreaming is available at Anne Meyer Funeral Mass.

I remember Anne and the whole Meyer so fondly. I especially remember Anne´s enthusiasm and energy for Wisconsin activities. From boat trips and skiing off the island, taking the sunfish sailboat out to swim off a raft with the other kids and snipe hunts. I can still envision her water skiing doubles with my father Ed Szyman. My thoughts and condolences are with the whole family. Jim Szyman.

I worked with Ann Meyers and many
others for years on educating the State of Illinois and all our communities on what drugs were doing to the healthy development of our youth and their brains . Ann & I were in charge of a committee that encouraged everyone to pray for our youth every day for their healthy development. We had prayer cards made to pass out to adults and youth... encouraging them to pray every day for the healthy development of our youth... we had one card for youth & a special prayer for them to say for themselves, their friends, and all youth for their healthy development. We had another prayer card made for adults to pray for the healthy development of our youth. We had requests for these prayer cards from all over the USA, Europe and Africa ... once a priest requested 10,000 for Ethiopia ... yes, we filled this request and every request... Ann & I did this work for many years together. I loved her and I loved working with her. A great woman, wife, Mom and advocate for the healthy development of all our children & youth. We are happy she is retired now in Heaven with her beloved husband, ChuckOur love and prayers to all her children, their spouses, their husbands and wives, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Ann is the real deal, authentic, kind , loving , smart, beautiful, a woman of great faith and a true servant of Our Lord serving all those God sent her to serve of all ages, especially her family, friends and youth. Love and blessings to her precious family, friends and all who loved Anne
