Anthony Thomas “Chip” Chiporo, of Salem, age 45, passed away on March 21, 2024.

He was born on July 31, 1978, in Alliance, to Theadore Thomas and Christine (McKnight) Chiporo.

He was a 1996 graduate of Marlington High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree of Music Education from the University of Dayton in 2001. Anthony taught in Jackson, Ohio and then in the East Palestine City School District (2005 to present) where he served as the choir director and assistant band director. He also spent time working with the drama department, assisting in over 10 years of plays and musicals.

Anthony was a member of Phi Mu Alpha, Kappa Kappa Psi and the Ohio Music Education Association. He played in the Brass Band of the Western Reserve and enjoyed photography, cooking, and target practice. He had a passion for music and loved teaching the appreciation of the arts. Above all, he encouraged his students to believe in themselves.

Those left to cherish his memory are his parents; brother, Michael (Carrie) Chiporo; niece, Isabella; nephew, Samuel; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and the countless students he believed in. Anthony was a beloved teacher, mentor and friend and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 20th at 2:00 p.m. at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with a visitation one hour prior. Mark McTrusty will officiate.

The East Palestine Music Department also plans to host a musical celebration of life at a later date to be announced.
