Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cargain Funeral Homes Inc. - Carmel on Aug. 2, 2024.
Antonio "Anthony" D'Arco, of
Carmel, New York, passed away suddenly on August 1, 2024, at the age of 69. Born on May 20, 1955, in Ischia, Italy, he was the son of Luigi and Silveria (Ambrosino) D'Arco. He grew up on the island of Ponza, Italy which he loved so dearly before coming to the United States where he joined his family in the Bronx. Anthony lived a life marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his community.
Known affectionately as Anth or Tony to his loved ones and friends, he was the beloved husband of Carol (Magliano) D'Arco. Together they created a legacy of love through their children, Stella D'Arco (Jeff) and Anthony D'Arco (Katie). He was a cherished brother to Aniello D'Arco (Elsa), Mimma Califano (Nino) and Maria (Benny) Califano. He was also a loving son-in-law to Stella and Joe Magliano, an uncle to his nephews, nieces, a great-nephew, and five great-nieces. He was sadly predeceased by his loving parents, Luigi and Silveria, his father-in-law, Joe, and his brother-in-law, Nino. His granddoggies, Chewy, Minnie, and Ollie loved him fiercely always wanting him to be in the mix. His life was abundantly rich with family connections.
Anthony was an avid athlete in his younger years attending college on a full track scholarship. He was a proud graduate of Iona College with a Bachelor of Science degree and dedicated his professional life to the field of accounting, working with integrity and distinction at L3 Communications in New York City. Prior to that, he worked for Honeywell and Loral Electronics. He maintained friendships with so many of his co-workers who had become close friends over the years.
Anthony had an enormous zest for life always ready for the next excursion where he'd be ready to try new foods, see new places, or simply have engaging conversation. He had this ability to talk to anyone and everyone making them feel so comfortable as though they'd known each other forever. His story telling about his days on the island or in the Bronx captivated everyone. He could build and fix anything and everything intuitively without any training and with such meticulous detail. After working since the age of 8 in the fruit store on Morris Avenue, he finally was able to retire and kick-started a life he never knew without work, cooking up the most delicious meals, building a greenhouse, carrying on the most successful garden to date, and spending time in Seaside Park, NJ; but most of all, he had the time to explore and go on new adventures with his beloved Carol. They were an inseparable dynamic duo for 50 years since Junior Prom way back in the Bronx and had just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on July 28th. They truly took on every joy and obstacle life had to offer together.
Above all, Anthony was most proud of his family and his heritage. They were the most important aspects of his life. He leaves behind a legacy of love, a commitment to his values, and a life that was full and vibrant. Anthony D'Arco will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
