Anthony DiCenso Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sperry-McHoul-Pichi Funeral Home on Dec. 8, 2024.
NORTH ATTLEBORO – Anthony F. DiCenso, of North Attleboro, formerly of Cranston, RI, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, his 84th birthday.
Born in Providence, RI, on December 4, 1940, Anthony was the beloved son of the late Antonio and Desolina F. (DiCenzo) DiCenso. He grew up in the Federal Hill section of Providence, the city's historic Italian-American neighborhood, where he attended Holy Ghost School and later graduated from Central High School.
Anthony dedicated his career to toolmaking, beginning as an apprentice at Bulova Watch in Providence, where he worked for many years. When the company relocated overseas, he continued his craft with B.A. Ballou Company in East Providence until his retirement at age 66. His expertise and passion for watchmaking also extended into his personal life, where he cultivated an impressive collection of timepieces.
A true baseball enthusiast, Anthony had a remarkable memory for stats and cherished memories of witnessing legends like Mickey Mantle and Yogi Berra in action. He enjoyed many visits to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY, and served as a coach in the Budlong Baseball League in Cranston, where he guided teams his son and daughter played for.
Anthony's love of history was a defining trait, and he especially appreciated the Smithsonian Institution for its rich connection to the past. Above all, he was a simple man, deeply devoted to his family and fiercely loyal to those he loved.
Anthony leaves behind his cherished son, Robert DiCenso, and Robert's significant other, Kelly Enriquez, of Carlsbad, CA. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Debra DiCenso, and his former wife and lifelong friend, Joan DiCenso.
A private funeral service will be held, with interment at Saint Ann Cemetery in Cranston, RI.
As the great Yogi Berra famously said, "It ain't over 'til it's over."
