Anthony John Duckett passed away on April 17, in the arms of loving family. Born on January 26th, 1965, in Shirley, Massachusetts, the youngest child of Marlene and Jon Duckett. After the family moved to Ft. Dix, NJ, Tony grew up in Pemberton, NJ (Lake Valley Acres) where he graduated from Pemberton High School in 1983. An exceptional athlete, he played defensive back for the Hornets football team and made the All-County team in his senior season.
He went on to play football for Temple University, but after a year, Tony had a higher calling and joined the Marine Corps where he proudly served until 1990 as a reservist. In 1987 he became a NJ State Trooper as part of the 106th graduating class and retired as Sergeant First Class after serving 26 years. During his career with the NJ State Police he received numerous commendations and accolades for his service.
Retirement for Tony didn't mean slowing down - it meant he could focus on his true devotion, giving back to the youth in Pemberton, so he took a position at Pemberton High School as a Security and Truancy officer. This is also when he became a coach for the Hornets football program. During that time, he also worked as Security detail for the NBA Oklahoma City Thunder team. Tony was a selfless man, and he did everything to elevate all of his students, athletes, friends, and family.
In 2019, Tony was inducted into the Pemberton Hall of Fame and in 2023 he was bestowed the honor as Coach of the Year.
Tony is survived by his mother Marlene, his brothers Jon and Mario, his sister Desiree and brother-in-law Elliot, nieces Tywana, Erica, Elisa, Mariah, Evie and nephew Nicolas. He was predeceased by his father Jon H. Duckett and his grandmother Maude. He also leaves his love, Christina Fisher.
He loved his dogs.
He loved his cars.
He loved his community.
He loved his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Wednesday. April 30th, 2025, from 4:00pm – 7:00pm at Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel, NJ 08054, followed by a service at 7:00pm. Anthony will be interred privately at Lakeview Memorial Park, Cinnaminson, NJ 08077.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the New Jersey State Police Memorial Association at The New Jersey State Police Memorial Association Museum and Learning Center or the Burlington County Animal Shelter.

It was a pleasure and honor to work with Duckett as he was a wonderful role model for students and staff alike here at PTOWN. I will cherish our talks and the laughs we shared. Although a great man, friend, colleague, coach, and family member was taken from us way too soon, his memory shall live on forever in the stories you and I will share.

I will miss Anthony's smile and most of all his humor as he walked the halls of PTHS. He made sure that each student and staff member knew that he cared about them in addition to making sure that they felt safe. As an alumnus who has given back to and paid it forward to his school and community, his impact was significant. He will be fondly remembered as he rests in peace.

Mr. Dickey you always knew how to make us students smile when needed. I remember during my internship for psychology we would talk about anything and everything. You would make laugh in the halls when I needed it most so I thank you for that. Part of me wishes that you could see how much stronger I´ve gotten and for you to meet my daughter. I hope you are protecting us from above.

Tony and I were neighbors for years living on Mt. Laurel Road in Mt. Laurel. Tony lived two houses from me. We were good friends. I never saw him without a big smile. He was always in great shape, and he loved his dogs. He was very impressive looking in his NJ State Police Uniform. Sharp as a tack. We will miss you Tony very much.
