Anthony "Tony" Eliopoulos
May 10, 1941 - December 31, 2023
Anthony "Tony" Eliopoulos died on December 31, 2023 at the Arizona State Veteran Home. Tony was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to George and Bernice Eliopoulos and was 82 years old.
Tony attended Bay View High School in Milwaukee. He was drafted into the United States Army and served in the infantry division from 1963 to 1965, during which time he was awarded the Army Sharpshooter Weapons Badge. In 1965 he transferred to the United State Army Reserve where he continued his service until 1969. Through the rest of his life, Tony remained proud of his service to his country and proud to be a veteran.
Tony worked for Harley Davidson for a decade. When the Milwaukee plant implemented lay-offs, Tony ventured into the world of business, owning Tony's Self-Service gas station and, later, Cycles and Cars. The Cycles and Cars shop was a reflection of his passion for hot rod cars. Tony spent his retirement years at his home in Arizona, restoring hot rods and participating in car shows across the country.
Tony is preceded in death by his parents, George and Bernice, as well as his siblings Daniel, Barbara, and Francis. Tony is survived by children Kimberly (John III), George (Heidi); grandchildren Brittany (Nate), John IV (Jenny), Lauren, Tessa, Emily (Anthony), and Athena; and one great grandchild, John V.
A memorial service with military honors will be held on Monday, January 8th, 2024 at 12:30 pm at National Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Tony's name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Tony's family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the staff at the Arizona State Veteran Home and Hospice of the Valley for the care, compassion, and dignity they showed Tony and continue to show veterans every day. May Tony's soul rest in peace and his memory live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
