Anthony Steven "Tubby" Harness, age 58 of Buchanan, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026, after a brief illness. Born in Tucker, Georgia, on June 16, 1967, he was the son of the late June "Shorty" Harness and the late Cassie Harness. In addition to his parents, Steven is preceded in death by his sisters, Velma Harness, Rachel Weaver and her husband, Tommy, and Pamela Folds; and his brother, Billie Harness.
Anthony Steven, known to his family as "Tubby", was a proud graduate of Temple High School and an alumnus of Devry Institute. His commitment to service was evident in his time spent in the U.S. Army, where he served with honor and pride. Tubby was known for his dry sense of humor that brought warmth and laughter to those around him. He had a passion for sports, particularly enjoying soccer and baseball, with the Dodgers being his beloved team. His love for movies extended to those in Spanish. In his personal life, Tubby cherished the companionship of his dog, Max, who preceded him in death. His life was marked by a blend of humor, passion, and a commitment to those he loved.
His survivors include his sisters and brothers-in-law, Novella & James Spake of Draketown, Wilma Brawley & John Waters of Buchanan, and Brenda & Kirk Sanders of Buchanan; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Clark & Linda Harness of Tucker, Stoney & Tina Harness of Jefferson, Boyd Harness of Jefferson, Belvia Harness of Lithia Springs, and Danny (Jodi) Pollard-Harness of Bremen. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, a loving great niece, Cassie Jayden Folds, as well as many other extended family members.
In keeping with his wishes, Steven will be cremated. His family is planning a celebration of his life at a later date.
