Anthony Scott Hughes, Jr. age 36 of Eupora, Mississippi passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus, Mississippi. Anthony was born on June 9, 1989, in Starkville, Mississippi to Tunya Jones and Anthony Scott Hughes, Sr. He was a graduate of Eupora High School in Eupora, Mississippi and a dietary worker at Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, Mississippi and also attended Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Columbus, Mississippi. Anthony is survived by his devoted companion, Shakeda Neal and family of Columbus, Mississippi; his father, Anthony Scott Hughes, Sr. of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister, Lenora Hughes of Eupora, Mississippi; one brother, Lionel Jones of Eupora, Mississippi; maternal grandmother, Mary Shaw of Eupora, Mississippi and maternal grandfather, James Shaw, Jr. of Eupora, Mississippi; a special uncle who was like a brother, Jonathan Shaw of Eupora, Mississippi and two god brothers, Chad Ballard and King Freeman. He is preceded in death by his mother, Tunya Jones; aunt, Martha Miller; uncle, Hilliard Anderson, Jr.; maternal grandfather, Jimmy A. Jones; paternal grandparents, Leroy Hughes and Pauline Hughes; maternal great grandparents, Hilliard Anderson and Vennia Anderson. Homegoing Celebration Services for Anthony will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora, Mississippi. Interment will follow at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in French Camp, Mississippi. The family will receive friends and loved ones for a time of visitation on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 5:00PM until 6:00PM at Oliver Funeral Home in Eupora, Mississippi. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is honored to be entrusted with all arrangements for the Hughes family.
