ANTHONY XAVIER TURNER LAWRENCE was born on December 20, 1966, to the late Willie Mae Turner and Exell Lawrence. He was the fifth of six children. During the early morning hours of June 9, 2025, Anthony relinquished his mortal shell and embraced his eternity.
Waiting to embosom him were his parents-Willie Mae Turner and Exell Lawrence-along with his maternal grandparents, Sam Turner, Sr., and Orah Johnson Turner, as well as four maternal aunts-Annie Bell Turner, Mae Bell Carter, Rosie Mae Turner, Laurene White, and two maternal uncles-Sam Turner, Jr. and Thomas Turner, Sr.
Anthony leaves to cherish his memory one precious son, Xavier E. Lawrence and his mother Bo, along with two beautiful stepdaughters: Lu Meh and Julia Meh of San Diego, CA. He leaves also one sister: Diane K. Sanders (Van) of Shreveport, LA and five brothers: Larry D. Turner (Gloria) of Pearland, TX; Daniel L. Turner of
Delhi, LA; Van O. Turner (Norma) of
Monroe, LA; Bienville Turner (Lisa) of Winnsboro, LA and Willie C. Lawrence (Johnnie) of
Delhi, LA. He is also survived by one maternal aunt, Irene T. Barneys of Jamacia, NY along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Anthony accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Delhi. Upon moving to San Diego, California, he attended The Church of Christ.
His early education took place at Waverly High School, and he graduated from Delhi High School in 1985. Following high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served honorably for many years, primarily as a Dental Hygienist. He earned his Physician Assistant degree from Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in 2000. His impressive professional background comprises:
• Medical Training: Graduated with honors in 2000 and holds certification as a Physician Assistant (PA C).
• Practice and Specializations focused on occupational and general care.
• Licensed in California (Physician Assistant license #15721).
• Specialized work with Medicare patients, accepting standard assignments.
His numerous professional affiliations include the American Current Care of California, a medical corporation with over 85 providers. He had medical practices in National City and Chula Vista, California.
Since graduating, his career and experience include more than 24 years in the Physician Assistant field where he offered a wide range of routine medical services, particularly to adult patients in clinical settings.
Anthony Xavier Turner Lawrence was a highly respected and experienced, California licensed physician assistant serving the National City and Chula Vista communities. Trained at Charles R. Drew University, he dedicated over two decades to patient care, especially in occupational medicine and Medicare services. His practice through American Current Care of California ensured access to diverse medical specialists under one umbrella.
Another branch has fallen from the family tree, but those of us who remain will continue our heritage of family unity and love.
