Obituary of Anthony J. LoSapio
Anthony J. LoSapio, of Randolph, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the age of 87. He was a cherished husband, loving father, and proud grandfather whose warmth and dedication touched countless lives.
Anthony is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, JoAnne LoSapio (née Soranno), two devoted sons, David LoSapio and his wife Sherri & Jeff LoSapio and his wife Kristy; four cherished grandchildren, Delia LoSapio, Josh LoSapio, Cass LoSapio and Caitlin LoSapio; and one sister, Janice Gelson and her husband Richard.
In addition to his parents, Anthony was predeceased by his daughter Karen LoSapio, who he adored.
Born and raised in Madison with his sister Janice, Anthony was deeply proud of his Italian American heritage and the family's roots as rose growers in Madison. He graduated from Madison High School in 1956 before earning his bachelor's degree in history from Albright College in 1960. Furthering his education, he obtained a Master of Arts from Springfield College.
Anthony distinguished himself both academically and athletically, earning numerous accolades during his football career, including being named to the ECAC All-East Team in 1959, Associated Press Little All-American in 1959, Pretzel Bowl MVP in 1958, and Homecoming MVP in 1959. He was also inducted into the Albright College Hall of Fame.
A dedicated educator, Anthony taught history at Madison High School for 35 years, inspiring generations of students. His passion extended beyond the classroom as he served as the Head Wrestling Coach from 1968 to 1987, guiding young athletes with wisdom and motivation. His excellence earned him membership in multiple Halls of Fame, including those of Morris County Wrestling, District Nine, Region Three, Madison High School, and the New Jersey Coaches Association. His legacy as a role model and mentor remains deeply embedded in the community.
Anthony shared a loving life with his wife JoAnne, with whom he raised their family in Randolph. Family was the center of his world, and he found immense joy in being a grandfather, cherishing time spent playing card games with his grandchildren. Beyond his family, Anthony enjoyed fishing, cooking, wine making, and nurturing his impeccably kept yard and landscaping.
His unwavering dedication as a father, grandfather, coach, and teacher has left a lasting imprint that will continue to inspire future generations. Anthony J. LoSapio's life work is a testament to the profound impact one person can have on their community and loved ones. He will be deeply missed, and his legacy will endure forever.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation for Anthony to be held on Monday, December 22, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison. For those who wish to attend the mass virtually, please visit www.svmnj.org/livestream-mass
Interment will be held privately for the family.
