Anthony A. Pesci, age 79 of Pleasant Hills, passed peacefully on Saturday, November 15, 2025. He was born on October 3,1946 in Pittsburgh. Anthony was the son of the late Pierina and Giacomo Pesci, the cherished husband of 54 years to Scharmayne Callahan Pesci, and the brother of Joan Pesci (Steven Daum).

Anthony graduated from the Kiski Preparatory School; he then attended the Conservatory of Music in Parma, Italy where he studied piano. He continued his studies in piano at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore and completed his education at Duquesne University, with a degree in Music Education. Anthony was a music teacher in the Canon McMillan School District for 36 years. He was a creative and dedicated educator who was beloved by his students.

Fluent in Italian, Anthony loved traveling, especially to Italy but also to Ireland, always in the company of his dear wife. He was an accomplished cook, gardener and collector of antiques. All who knew him will remember him as a true Renaissance man.

I graduated from CM in 1995. He would present the darkness of Beethoven then stammer a blues rift to get us thinking. This man taught me how to listen to music and not just hear. He was a gem; so eloquent....then if we weren't on it, he'd tell ya! I will always adore him and be grateful for his being. God Bless

Mr. Pesci was my chorus teacher 30 years ago. He was my favorite teacher. Not only did he give me a deep appreciation and love for all types of music but he helped me believe in myself, made me feel seen, and gave me the courage to try new things. He will be sorely missed.

Mr. Pesci was my chorus teach many years ago. He had a voice I will never forget and still think of from time to time, even 25 years later. He was kind, caring, and a ma that poured his passion into whatever he did. Rest easy Mr. Pesci. My condolences to his family and friends.

Tony was much more than a family friend - he was one of my dad´s closest buddies, and the two of them taught together at the high school for decades. He always felt like an uncle to me. He and his wife went out of their way to cheer me on, especially in the arts, and they opened my eyes to good food, culture, and experiences I might never have found on my own. I´m thankful for every conversation, every encouragement, and every moment he shared with me. I will miss him very, very much.
Grazie di tutto, Tony.

Schar -- Thank you for allowing me to spend time with you and Tony as he began his journey home. We will all miss him deeply. Thank you, God, for Tony's life and the beauty he brought into Schar's life and everyone's life who knew him.
The only comfort I have is knowing that now Andy has his buddy with him, and they will talk politics, problems in education today, and talk of the good old days when we were ALL together!
Remember -- We will ALL be together again!
With Much Love,
Lynlee Caliguiri

Sending my condolences to the family. May you play beautiful music for all of us to hear in heaven. Mr. Pesci, you were my first choir teacher and director at canon-Mac. You may not of known this, but I moved into the district in 8th grade, I hadn´t joined because I was so nervous being in a new district. While constantly being bullied and having a really challenging home life, your classroom made me feel safe for the first time, I cannot thank you enough. We truly lost a gem in this world!!

Wayne and Cindy Berg offer our deepest sympathy. We have treasured the times that were spent helping us plan our trips to Ireland and sharing travel stories. Tony helped me so much as a mentor and friend when I started at Canon Mac and he continued to share his wonderful talents, and humor, as we worked together on the school musicals.
The students loved working with him and so did I. I was very sad when he retired but happy that he, and his love, Scharmayne, would have quality of time and travel together in the years to come. We consider ourselves blessed to have known him. He was a true gentleman.

My sincere condolences to Tony's family. I worked with Tony at Canon-McMillan High School when I first started teaching almost 30 years ago. I remember how friendly Tony was and how beautifully he played the piano at the musicals and chorus performances. He was definitely a Renaissance man. He was respected by all his colleagues and well-loved by the students. We were so lucky to have Tony at CM. May he rest in peace.
