Anthony Joseph "AJ" Serritella, devoted and unconditionally loving husband of the late Maryellen. Dedicated father of William, David (Danielle) and Paul Serritella. Caring grandpa of Gianna, Alexis, Theda, Thalia and Grace. Dear brother of Marie Collatz, and the late Lucille Moran, the late Rochelle Galluzzi. Anthony was a US Army Veteran. He taught high school biology, was a guidance counselor and a W.E.C.E.P. coordinator for CPS from 1951 until his retirement in 2000. Anthony was a passionate community theatre actor throughtout the 1950s and 1960s. He met his wife, Maryellen, while they were both teaching summer school at Steimetz High School. He loved coaching his sons Little League Baseball Teams and going on campouts and outings with his sons in the "Indian Guides". In the 1980s he worked part time as an overnight security guard to make ends meet, and would then get up in the morning to go teach, all to support his family and to keep his wife at home to raise their children. He rarely bought anything new and always bought and drove very old/used cars so his resources would go to his family. Anthony was very charismatic and charming and loved talking, meeting and helping people. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a Native American Charity or to a Disabled Veterans charity of your choice in his honor.
