Anthony "Tony" J. Sousa 71, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on October 16, 2024. He was the loving husband of Janice B. (Gardner) Sousa. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Anthony and Gilda (Mignanelli) Sousa.
Tony graduated from Cranston East High School in 1971 and in 1976 from Roger Williams University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice. After college he went to work with his mother at Elite Jewelry for 20 years, then Mag Jewelry for 25 years. After leaving Mag Jewelry he went to work at Broadway Diner as a Cook and Manager. He was the President of the Columbian Realty Corporation in Cranston as well a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1738, where he continued to cater and bartend for an endless number of functions.
Tony had a passion for sports, and devoted his time to coaching soccer and cheering on the New York Giants, New York Yankees, and Providence Bruins. He was a 32-year season ticket holder for the Providence Bruins, spending each weekend cheering them on with Lexie, Brianna, and close friends made along the way.
Besides his wife Tony is survived by his three loving daughters, Alexandra L. Sousa, Brianna L. Sousa, and Tara R. Hart and her husband Stephen, also survived by his grandchildren Ella and Everett Hart.
His funeral will be held on Monday October 21, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. from the Carpenter Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. George Church, 1493 Cranston Street, Cranston. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations in Anthony's name may be made to Colby Cave Memorial Fund Every Kid Deserves a Shot.
