Cortland - Anthony "Tony" Morrone, age 76, of Cortland, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Shepherd of the Valley in Girard.
He was born on June 14, 1949, in Youngstown, a son of the late Christy and Ann Casasanta Morrone.
Tony was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio and a graduate from Chaney High School and Youngstown State University. He was a current member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Cortland and continued his support of St. Anthony Padua Church in Youngstown, where he had grown up as a member, making Briar Hill pizza to fundraise. Tony also enjoyed volunteer work at St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen in Warren. His career stretched fifty years working in the metals industry, retiring in 2011. He especially enjoyed his work because of the people he would meet, the friends he would make, and the places it would take him. Aside from his passion for work, telling a good story, and carrying on the Italian family heritage, his greatest love was family. With his beloved wife Ruth always by his side, he was a proud son, brother, uncle, husband, father, and grandfather. Tony’s mother always said with a smile, “Antnee isa da the child thata never grow up”, which brought fun, innocence, and unpredictability to any situation. His ultimate and unequivocal calling in life was to be grandpa to the crew he affectionately called his “munchkins” to which he was always there for. His kindness, love, and ambition will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Fealko Morrone; daughter, Deborah Morrone of Frederick, MD; son, Christopher (Stephanie) Morrone of Howland; sister, Theresa (John) Berg of Poland, OH; brother, Christy (Mary) Morrone of Lowellville and by his grandchildren, Brady, Ellie and Mia Morrone.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, Boardman.
Services will be held on Tuesday, at 6:00 pm, at the funeral home, with Deacon Paul Lisko officiating.
Tony will be laid to rest at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield.
