Antonio DiStasio Obituary

Antonio DiStasio, 89, of Wilton, Connecticut, beloved husband, devoted father, proud Nonno, and dear friend to all, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 16, 2025. Antonio was born on August 10,1936, in the beautiful coastal town of Minturno, Italy, Antonio lived a life defined by perseverance, faith, love, and an unwavering devotion to family.
Antonio was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Rosa, whom he married in 1957 in Mileto, Italy. While Rosa returned to America to prepare for their new life, Antonio remained in Italy, patiently awaiting his turn to enter the country he had long dreamed of calling home. In 1960, that dream became reality, and the two began their journey together in the United States.
A master stone mason by trade, Antonio built more than structures-he built a legacy of hard work, honesty, and care. He founded a successful business and took great pride in providing for his family. His artistry lives on in the work he left behind, but his proudest achievements were always his children and grandchildren.
Though he embraced his life in America, Antonio never lost touch with his roots. Over the course of his life, he returned to Italy an incredible 75 times, keeping close to the people and traditions that shaped him. His deep love for his homeland was a constant in his life.
Antonio is survived by his son Anthony Pio DiStasio and daughter-in-law Melinda, his daughter RosaMaria DiStasio-Scaturchio and son-in-law Joe, and his cherished grandchildren Alessia, Donatella, Giuliana, Antonio, Colton, and Giavanna. To them, he was more than a Nonno-he was a storyteller, a teacher, a constant example of strength, generosity, and love.
Antonio cherished hosting lively bocce matches at his home, where laughter and friendly competition filled the air. These gatherings became treasured family traditions, and his court was the heart of countless joyful summer days.
He enjoyed sharing delicious meals, a good glass of wine, and tales from his extraordinary life. An excellent chef and gifted storyteller, Antonio loved summers at Villa Rosa, the home he lovingly named after his wife. It was there he found the most joy-surrounded by family, good food, and the simple beauty of life well-lived. He loved being out in his yard, gardening and watching the flowers bloom. He took great pride in his green grass and found so much peace in caring for the land around him.
Antonio's life was guided by deep faith. He believed all he was given came through the grace and love of Jesus Christ.
A Catholic Mass in celebration of Antonio's life will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 229 Danbury Rd., Wilton on Tuesday, October 21, at 9:30 AM, followed by entombment at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk. All who knew and loved him are warmly invited to honor his remarkable life.
