April Young

April Rochelle (Mack) Young entered into eternal rest on October 19, 2025. April was born to Henry and Roberta Mack on January 12, 1972, in New Haven, CT. She matriculated through the New Haven Public School system and graduated from James Hillhouse High School before continuing her education at technical school. For twenty years, April served faithfully at Yale University as an Account Assistant IV for Yale Medical Group, where she was known for her diligence, warmth, and professionalism. She retired in 2016.
April was a woman of remarkable strength, resilience, and kindness, and could encourage anyone, even on the hardest of days. When faced with life's challenges, she would often say, "You've got to go through to get through."
April found joy in life's simple pleasures-watching her favorite shows, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and making the best salads. Her children were her world, and she absolutely adored her grandchildren, who affectionately called her "Mama."
In 2003, April married the love of her life, John Young, and together they created a loving home for their four children. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a beloved daughter, a cherished sister, an adoring aunt, and a trusted friend. Her legacy of love, faith, and encouragement will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
April was preceded in death by her father, Henry Mack; mother, Roberta Mack; husband, John Young, Jr.; and son, Jaquan Bailey.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Praniece Nicholson (Nathan); sons, John Michael Young and John Lee Young III; grandchildren, Journey Bailey, Zuri Nicholson and Ezra Nicholson; siblings, Theodore Lloyd (Marcia), Anthony Lloyd, Aaron Lloyd, Lisa Crocker (Joseph), and Cicily Clemmons; nieces, Tameka Lloyd, Melony Rease, Laquanta Brumsey, Jade Crocker, Lovee Clemmons, and Kashana Huckaby; nephews, Anthony Lloyd, Joseph Crocker, Joshua Crocker, Jacob Taylor, Myles Trimble and Eric Young( Jonalis); close cousins, Tanya Reid Fuller, Kisha Streater, Suzie Jenkins, Pandora Lloyd Williams, Cornelius Streater and Troy Streater; best friends, Kendra Griffin and Tishaun Jenkins; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
